Naim NDX2
Op het eerste gezicht lijkt er weinig veranderd aan de NDX, maar wij zien dat als een groot voordeel! De NDX 2 past naadloos in je bestaande NAIM Classic systeem maar dat wel met de laatste techniek onder de behuizing.
Het grote kleurenscherm laat al zien dat je met de NDX 2 te maken hebt. Het scherm is van smartphone kwaliteit en heeft een hoge resolutie om albumhoezen haarscherp te kunnen tonen. Van binnen is de NDX 2 voorzien van het nieuwe NP800 streamingboard met 40-bit SHARC processor voor het verwerken van hoge resolutie bestanden zoals DSD128 of PCM 32bit/384kHz.
Ook is de interne verwerkingssnelheid flink hoger dankzij LVDS. Het zorgt voor een snellere overdracht van data maar geeft ook minder ‘noise’ in de behuizing. Hierdoor klinkt alles veel schoner en houdt je simpelweg meer muziek over om naar te luisteren.
De DAC in de NDX 2 is van hoge kwaliteit. NAIM zorgt ervoor dat het binnenkomende digitale signaal opnieuw geklokt wordt voor een betere timing. Het gehoor is hier bijzonder gevoelig voor en het zorgt ervoor dat de beleving van muziek op een hoger niveau komt te staan. Overigens kan de geluidskwaliteit van andere apparatuur worden verbeterd door het digitale signaal via de NDX 2 te laten verlopen.
De NDX 2 biedt je zelfs de mogelijkheid om op een later tijdstip de kwaliteit nog verder te verbeteren door middel van een losse voeding. Deze upgrade zet de ingebouwde voeding buitenspel, een grotere voeding zorgt ervoor dat de interne componenten nog beter hun werk kunnen doen. Daarnaast zijn de componenten nog beter afgeschermd door elektromagnetische straling omdat de voeding nu extern is geplaatst. Je kunt hiervoor de XPS DR gebruiken of de nog zwaardere PS 555 DR voeding.
De bediening kan middels de bijgeleverde afstandsbediening of via de uitstekend werkende NAIM app voor iOS en Android.

Technology & Craft
The Burr-Brown® PCM1792A digital-to-analogue converter working alongside our new streaming platform is one of the best available. We improved its performance even further by implementing our own digital filters and adding a discrete current-tovoltage converter immediately after the DAC.
The streaming section of the NDX 2 uses the latest Naim network card featuring lownoise, high-speed low-voltage differential signalling (LVDS) to route the digital audio signal. The higher speed is capable of decoding all HD audio formats at up to 32 bits/384 kHz or DSD128. Rather than the source acting as the digital timing master, our new streaming board turns things around and allows our DAC clock to control the flow of audio data. The data is integer-over-sampled in a SHARC DSP to an incredible 40-bit accuracy before it’s fed to the Burr-Brown DAC.
The NDX 2 features an integrated low-noise power supply with a custom-designed toroidal transformer and separate windings for the digital and analogue sections. However, the player can be upgraded with an external XPS DR or 555 PS DR power supply, giving you a marked increase in sonic authority and emotion.
During the development of the NDX 2, our engineers examined every detail, from mechanical construction, component selection and board layout. The result is a network player worthy of the Naim badge, with a sound that’s rich, detailed and engaging.
