Deze netwerkspeler is onze instap speler, maar zeker niet van instapniveau! Net als zijn grote broers de NDX 2 en ND555 maakt hij gebruik van LVDS. Deze techniek zorgt ervoor dat de netwerkspeler hogere resoluties kan decoderen tot wel 32bit/384kHz en DSD128. Daarnaast zorgt deze techniek voor minder elektromagnetische verstoring in de circuits wat zich vertaalt naar meer muziek!
NAIM heeft 3 jaar gestoken in de ontwikkeling van de nieuwe generatie netwerkspelers, waardoor ze geheel up-to-date zijn en blijven met de laatste ontwikkelingen. Via automatische software-updates blijft je ND5 XS 2 geheel bij met de laatste ontwikkelingen en verbeteringen. Daarnaast is deze netwerkspeler ook een uitstekende DAC. We weten allemaal dat timing uiterst belangrijk is bij het ervaren van muziek. De DAC van NAIM zorgt ervoor dat het ontvangen digitale signaal tijdelijk wordt opgeslagen en opnieuw door de klok van de DAC loopt. Op deze manier is de bron niet de baas, maar de ND5 XS 2!
Naast TIDAL, Qobuz en SPOTIFY streaming kun je met de draadloze technologieën met elke streamingdienst verbinding maken met de ND5 XS 2. Google Cast, Airplay 2 en Bluetooth Aptx HD zijn allemaal aan boord voor een ongekende muziekbeleving. Daarnaast kun je genieten van je favoriete muziekstation via iRadio.

Technology & Craft
The streaming section of the ND5 XS 2 uses the latest Naim network card featuring low-noise, high-speed low-voltage differential signalling (LVDS) to route the digital audio signal. The higher speed is capable of decoding all HD audio formats at up to 32 bits/384 kHz or DSD128. Rather than the source acting as the digital timing master, our new streaming board turns things around and allows our DAC clock to control the flow of audio data. The data is integer-over-sampled in a SHARC DSP to an incredible 40-bit accuracy before it’s fed to the PCM1791A Burr-Brown digital-toanalogue converter.
Developing a new streaming platform was one of the biggest projects we have ever taken on. Naim engineers across all disciplines – electronic, industrial, acoustic and mechanical – worked for three years to create a system that could make the most of online services such as TIDAL and Spotify while adding future-proof flexibility through Chromecast built-in. Supporting faster data rates with dual-band Wi-Fi and the latest 802.11ac protocol, this robust platform was designed for the highest performance on every level.
